I'm definitely very late in starting this blog now that Rachel is turning 7 months. Nevertheless, late better than never. I still hope I can back-post some pictures from when Rachel was born. :)
It has been an 'eventful' May so far till I'm totally stretched both mentally and physically. This is even so with Shawn in camp for reservist. :(

2 May, SunMy cousin Regina flew back from London with my niece Elizabeth and came over our place for dinner. That's the first time I met my niece (14 mths) and how chubby and rosy is she. Adorable! And perhaps it was Rachel's first meet with Elizabeth, Rachel actually tried mpressing her (& everyone else) with her first complete turn (to her right). She had been flipping to her right onto her tummy since she was 4-month but it was until today when she can turn one complete round!
It was a really great evening though the night ended with aunt Nerissa and cousin-in-law Jeremy having tummy ache, and weakest me with food poisoning. Must be the packed dinner!
3 May, MonShawn & I were on leave and we brought Rachel to have her 2nd shot of Pneumococcus. Not eventful? I wished so too...
4 May, Tue
Just when I reached office, my mum called to tell me that Rachel felt hot and kept on crying. Oh no, must be the fever (due to vaccination) as warned by Dr Ang Ai Tin. Told my mum to take Rachel's temperature with the Pigeon thermometer but alas, she dont know how to use, cause the display showed 'LOW' after the beep sound. So I took urgent morning leave, rushed home to pick up the ear thermometer and liquid panadol, and headed straight to my mum's place. Yes, Rachel's temp was 37.9. *heart pain*. Fed her 1ml of panadol and tried making her sleep. She stayed energetic that whole morning and no one would have guessed that her fever went up to 38.2 until I measured again at 11am. Had to call boss to take the whole day off. She vomitted the subsequent medication and I had to rely only on cold relief. Fever didnt subside until evening.
7 May, FriNothing worrying. :) She just showed off her gymnastic talents by flipping to her right and back several times, for the first time. *applause*
10 May, MonCan conclude that May is the month of physical development for Rachel after she flipped to her left onto tummy.
15 May, SatGuess I will be scolded by most mothers for this negligent. But for recording Rachel's milestone sake, here it is. Rachel fell off the bed at around 12.30am while I was sleeping. *tearing* Rachel and I stayed over my mum's place for the entire week as Shawn was in camp. As she was not used to her mini cot, I slept with her in my queen size bed with pillows barrier. Furthermore, I locked the cot wheels and had it positioned next to the bed to double up the barrier. Though I knew Rachel flipped in her sleep, I didnt realize that she could push away the pillows and the wheel-locked cot. To console myself, the bed was really low. Anyhow, she cried for a while and was smiling after my dad teased her. No bumps, no bruise, no vomit. Could focus, could smile and went back to sleep soundly. I had minimum rest that night to monitor her breathing (as advised by mothers on the forum) every hour. No complains. It was my fault to start with.
First half of May was indeed exhausting. I'm looking forward to have Shawn finish his one more week of reservist. Can he use his child care leave to not go to reservist? Nah...
Time to go Jurong Point to do the usual shopping. Most importantly, going to get the bed fence for my mum's place and pillows for the maid. Oh, we finally gave in to getting a maid for my mum. Pray that she will be a good helper!
Rachel and her bumbo chair. It's not as easy to take her out now that her thighs are chubbier. *Yippy* Hope she is putting on weight well as she has not been gaining much for the past 6 mths.
